Men's B MATCH REPORT
Lost - 1-7
Unfortunately, we lost 7-1 to a competent Appleton B side. We definitely felt we’d won the warm ups but when it came to the actual matches were reminded how effective it is to keep the ball in court. Harry and I got off to a good start winning the first set against their A pair 6-2. They then got a bit better and we got a bit worse and we lost the 2nd 6-0.
On the other court Kwok and Peter lost the 1st set 6-3, were 3-0 up in the 2nd but couldn’t hold on and lost 6-3.
In the reverse games, Harry and I started with confidence , which turned out to be unfounded. Appleton B basically got everything back and waited for us to make mistakes, which we did, in abundance. We lost 6-1,6-3. Kwok and Peter were giving the A pair a very good run for their money but just missed out on the first set 7-5. Appleton proved again too strong in the 2nd, which they won 6-1.
So a disappointing loss to a good side but all played in a good spirit. And at least we got the match played in what were improbable weather conditions at lunchtime. In fact it turned into a lovely afternoon for tennis.
